The Beginning

Our foundations . Dino, Inca and Dina.
Multi BISS CH AIRLIEBLUE SHADES OF APOLLO I don't mean the standard incarnate and faultless. He had his faults but he was the "Essence" of breed type in his size, substance, demeanour, arrogance, gentleness, tolerance and dominance. He had it all!

People were drawn to him like bees to honey. Royal Show Day was hell, everyone wanted to look at him and pat him. He would have people two or three deep on occasions admiring him.
He brought many people to me, people who wanted one "just like him" (and still do). I made contacts overseas through this wonderful Dane, such as Caron Honeck of Bluestone Kennel, who is now a dear friend and collaborator is Blues.( I am also the proud owner of a signed copy of 'Dogdoms Apollo', written by the famous breeder Judge Nancy Carroll Draper, a gift to me when she Gave him Best In Show.) He was a wonderful show dog, always did his best, always happy. Fortunately he was recognised for his greatness, with a record for a Blue male that has not been bettered to-date in Australia. Most of all he was my best mate.
I will never forget him, my wonderful Blue Boy.

BISS CH. CULURDANE CENTENARY
"Inca"
1988 - 1999

In memory of BISS Ch. Culurdane Centenary. Inca passed away at 11 1/2 years. She was our foundation bitch and the matriarch of Thunderfire. My first Blue great dane, and the first and only to date Specialty Winning Blue Bitch in Australia. Inca's appearances in her latter years in Veterans classes drew great applause, no matter what state in the country she was in. She was and will always be a legend. She was such a fixture, it is hard to believe she is gone. But there is no doubt that she lives on in our hearts, and in her Grandchildren. RIP, Queen Of The Blues.

MARDHIA SPIRIT OF APOLLO "Dina"
|
Dina was the "Incredible Hulk". She was a big girl with an even bigger personality. She was my "Second in Command", overseeing such things as law and order, whelpings and general household matters like guarding the shopping. She did the impossible and filled a terrible void when my boy Dino passed away. She is his namesake and she is his granddaughter, he is related to the sire as well. This is a case of believing that my friend came back as a girl. Dina was so like him in many ways. She was more cuddly than he was, but this time around we didnt waste a precious minute and we told each other we loved each other every single day.
Dina was 3 points from her title.. she broke a bone in her knee, and we struggled to try and get her title but it wasnt to be. howevr she has many champion grand and great grand children here and O/S.
the name sake and the personality and likeness lives on on im My 'Dnaa'.... RIP Dina, my great lady.

Everyone has one and the one Dane that impacts your life. The one that leaves you and you are never the same. The one that takes you to the height of greatness and the depths of heartbreak and despair. He was for me, my ultimate Dane. He personified the term "Great Dane".
